Leviticus turns from the worshiper's side of the altar to the priests' — the fire that must never go out, the food too holy to leave the court, the sin offering burned outside the camp, and the portion by which the priesthood lives. The rule Hebrews reads onto the cross: Jesus suffered outside the gate.
